According to a global study released by Surfshark, an Amsterdam-based cybersecurity firm, Nigeria was the 32nd most breached country on the globe in the first quarter of 2023. During this period, Nigeria experienced 82,000 leaked accounts, reflecting a staggering 64% increase from the previous quarter. This alarming trend highlights the vulnerability of Nigerian internet users to cyber threats, including data breaches, identity theft, and online fraud. The Safe Online program aims to reduce these numbers by raising awareness of young people in Nigeria on how to stay safe online.
